Mittens Help!

I finally received Samantha and Nellie's holiday coats today! They are beautiful, though they are unlined. [img]frown.gif[/img] And Nellie's hat is a bit tight on her, but not tight enough to warrant the inconvenience of sending it back, I think. We'll make it work! Otherwise I'm very pleased with them.

I'm confused about the mittens, though. These are the first ones I've had from AG, and was surprised to find out that the gloves are connected together by a string. How does this all work? Are you supposed to cut the string? But then wouldn't they start to unravel? Are you supposed to run the string through their clothing? The string doesn't look quite long enough for that. What's a girl to do?

The string works just like it did when I was a kid. You put the mittens on first, running the stiing up along the arm, behind the neck and then down the other arm, then you put the coat on. It keep the mittens from getting lost if the child takes one off while they are still outside.

After DD lost her umpteenth mitten we started doing the string thing: you pass the string and one mitten through the one sleeve and then the other. Then you put the coat on the girl (human or AG is the same!)
When you take the coat off, the mittens stay "attached" to the coat, since the string stays in the sleeves with the mittens hanging out.
This way, they don't get misplaced and are right there when you need 'em!

And yet my DD managed to misplace Nellie's mittens (even though I did run them through Nellie's coat). When I place my next order, I'm hoping to get a replacement. [img]frown.gif[/img]

Lol, thanks for enlightening me in my ignorance. Living in Arizona, I've never really had to deal with much cold-weather clothing. And I don't have any kids, either, so, yeah. [img]smile.gif[/img] It makes a lot of sense now! Thank you!!
